KL backpacking trip (pending)

so this whole idea of backpacking started off with me asking my cousin if she would like to bring it on a tour in Kuala Lumpur..
so agreeing with that,
my parents were delighted to let me go and die explore kuala lumpur and learn some independent skills on my own.
but now the plan is mutated in a way that....

-my cousin is not going to be the tour guide as she is busy learning driving back in pontian .
(you know the famous pontian wanton mee? yes, thats my dad's hometown..)

-my sister, winnie will be joining me in this trip so i am so not backpacking alone!
But with someone that has endured my nonsense and been my playmate since 18yrs and 3 mths ago..this is so exciting!

she speaks excellent english, chinese, a little malay, hokkien, cantonese, french and japanese, most importantly, she got the $cash$! =D

-the trip will be on 4th oct, night time till 7th oct, night time!

NOW..
to make this trip possible..
there is still a few more things to put into action..

1. Book a hotel for 2-3 nights.
2. Check and research local attractions.
3. Plan route for all the days in KL.
4. Book a transport to KL (by train, by bus or by foot?)

number 5 being the most important action to be done asap,

5. Seek approval from the two folks again.
(cause as told by my mother: 2 daughters going to such a dangerous place together. if both go and never return, thats it. humorously humourous.)

we save the trouble of squeezing with other people in the public toilet and not to mention, the toilet is so much more cleaner in TAS.

bus 34.

was in a mood of 'seeing-people-and-greeting-them-with-a-smile-even-if-i-dont-know-them'.
so i was on 34 and this cute little malay girl keep staring at me.
i was sitting beside her btw.
so i was reading my stuff and she was staring at me and the paper.
i was messaging and she continue to stare at me and my phone.
guess she is amazed.
amazed by why do i look so not female, why my phone doesnt have keypad, why my paper have such nice handwriting =)

then on my return trip,
this auntie came over and ask me if 34 go bedok.
my reply was no and ask her to take 69 from the same busstop.
and she started telling me about her tiring job and how the people there 'bully' her.
i guess i got this face that says 'come! i am a road directory and you could tell me all your problem and i will be able to share your burden~'

so after my 34 arrived,
i wave goodbye and told the auntie 69 will arrive shortly.
instantly,
this malay uncle suddenly smile to me and ask if i got 50cents change.
he show me 2 50cents and i show him a dollar.

when i reach my block, they is this old man carrying a cute little infant or baby.
so this cute little one was looking at my direction and i wave vigorously at her,
and she stare.
what was i thinking yo..
her waving back at me and say 'yo, whats up?'
crazy.

busted at soccer training

so the hardworking and suddenly full of energy me decided to turn up for training at commonwealth field today.
before i get out of the station,
i realise the field does not have any balls flying around!
shock by the lateness of everyone,
i called YuTing and realised that training was cancelled.

the conversation lasted around 6seconds?
Me: yuting, today got training anot ah?
YT: eh, dont have leh.
Me: oh okok, bye bye.

yup, that short.
so i hop on to the other platform and went home.

reached home and received a message from yuting,
'no training until after hari raya'.
no training, cant keep fit, cant lose weight, will gain weight, will be fat, school training is a must.

received a mail from sharmine.
IG shirt is costing $25.
due to the rich colour printing and on good quality.
worth?
worth it.

i am such a frequent in friendster and facebook now.
why?
cause when you are at home,
in front of the computer,
not blog hopping,
that is all that you can do.

24hours never even catch a wink.

jasmine, debbie and linhui came over to have mahjong session since ytd early evening...
great laugh over the table.
we went crazy in the middle of the night.
and the mac breakfast delivery man have bad service..
reminded not to press on the doorbell in case my whole family wakes up but he did....
reminded to have butter for our hotcakes but he didnt give..
we wanted to complain but decided to be kind =)

then we were so bored in the morning that we played

Sleeps.

I guess many people would agree with me that the holidays will be a good time to laze on your bed for up to 15hours doing nothing.
Not wanting to differ,
I slept from 2.30pm till 1pm.
10 hours and 30 minutes.

A few minutes ago,
I came across this article from the yahoo homepage that sleeping too much or too little can be of disadvantage.
the article was named '7 Myths About Sleep'.
*If you are lazy to read the whole thing, focus on those bold words will do =)

this is what they claimed.
1) To function best, you need to get eight hours.
There’s nothing magic about that number. Everyone has different sleep needs, and you’ll know you’re getting enough when you don’t feel like nodding off in a boring situation in the afternoon, says New York University psychologist Joyce Walsleben, Ph.D., co-author of A Woman’s Guide to Sleep.

2) If you can get it, more sleep is always healthier.
You wish. Some studies have found that people who slept more than eight hours a night died younger than people who got between six and eight hours. What scientists don’t know yet: Whether sleeping longer causes poor health or is a symptom of it, says Najib Ayas, M.D., MPH, assistant professor of medicine at the University of British Columbia. Long sleepers may suffer from problems such as sleep apnea, depression, or uncontrolled diabetes that make them spend more time in bed.

3) Some people function perfectly on four hours of sleep.
Legendary short sleepers—including Bill Clinton, Madonna, and Margaret Thatcher—don’t necessarily do better on fewer Zs. “They’re just not aware of how sleepy they are,” says Thomas Roth, Ph.D., sleep researcher at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Too little sleep is bad for your health and your image: It can make you ineffective (it impairs performance, judgment, and the ability to pay attention), sick (it weakens your immune system), and overweight. In fact, women who slept five hours or less a night were a third more likely to gain 33 pounds or more over 16 years than women who slept seven hours, according to a Harvard Nurses’ Health Study. Oddly, cutting too much sleep and getting less than six hours is associated with the same problems as sleeping too long: a higher risk of heart problems and death. And, of course, cheating on sleep hurts you behind the wheel: “Wakefulness for 18 hours makes you perform almost as though you’re legally drunk,” says Walsleben.

4) Waking up during the night means you’ll be tired all day.
Au contraire: It might be our natural cycle. Many animals sleep this way, and there are a lot of indications that our ancestors did, too, perhaps stirring nightly to talk or have sex, says Thomas Wehr, M.D., scientist emeritus at the National Institute of Mental Health. When 15 people in one of his studies lived without artificial lights for a few weeks, they wound up sleeping three to five hours, waking up for one or two, then sleeping again for four or more hours—and they said they had never felt so rested.

5) You need prescription drugs if you have insomnia every night.
Sleep meds are designed for short-term sleep problems, caused by stressful events like the loss of a job or taking a transatlantic flight. People with longer-term problems benefit more from cognitive behavioral therapy—essentially, retraining your perceptions of sleep and learning better sleep habits, such as going to bed at the same time every night, avoiding TVs and computers before bed, staying away from caffeine at least six hours before sleep, and other lifestyle changes. In fact, in 2005, the National Institutes of Health concluded that this type of therapy is as effective as prescription drugs for short-term treatment of chronic insomnia. In many cases, a sleeping pill may not even solve your sleep problem. “About half the people who think they have insomnia may have anxiety or depression,” says Daniel Kripke, M.D., a University of California at San Diego sleep expert.

6) You can make up for lost sleep on weekends.
Bingeing on Zs over the weekend and not sleeping during the week—what Harvard sleep expert Robert Stickgold, Ph.D., calls “sleep bulimia”—upsets your circadian rhythms and makes it even harder to get refreshing sleep. Sleeping until noon on Sunday generally prevents you from hitting the sheets by 10 that night. So instead of correcting your deficit from the week before, you set up a no-sleep cycle for the week to come. “The body loves consistency,” says Donna Arand, Ph.D., spokeswoman for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Best to rise around the same time every day, even on weekends.

7) Tylenol PM is better than a prescription sleep med for an occasional bout of insomnia.
Not if the bout lasts longer than a few nights, says Helene Emsellem, M.D., of the Center for Sleep & Wake Disorders in Chevy Chase, MD. Tylenol PM is no better than a prescription drug for people who have trouble falling asleep, and may be less effective than some prescription drugs, she says. The active ingredient in Tylenol PM is an anti-histamine, and its side effect is that it makes you drowsy. Some have reported a greater possibility of feeling “hung-over” after taking antihistamines than after taking prescription drugs. If you do decide to take antihistamines, don’t do it in the middle of the night: They may stay active in your system for eight hours or more. Another difference: Prescription sleep drugs are thought to allow you to go through all stages of the sleep cycle; no word on whether.



alright, i think i need to get use to waking up at 6.30 everyday now..
so that SSM will not be that frightening next time.
and before i sleep every night,
i should read a book to avoid the computer and TV..
and sleeping at 10.30pm everyday..
yup, that is 8hrs!

i need some subway soon

its a boring day during a holiday as usual..
with the computer as the only source of entertainment,
i am really making full use of it!
electricity wastage is going high high into the sky this month.
no, actually all the months.

090908 was my cousin's birthday..
happy birthday limei!
she's 19 now and studying in KL.
sent her a sms and discover that its going to be her holiday soon.
and i suggest going to KL to look for her and she could bring me around town.
my parents just approved this proposal of mine and that means,
i am backpacking to KL in October ALONE!
jie will be working while serene will be studying.
cant wait for the trip =)

went to this whampoa fish steamboat place last night for my mum's birthday celebration.
its hard to imagine how a simple steamboat place could actually have air condition. whats more, its situated at some weird place in farrer park... well, according to my dad's friend, whom is a friend of the kitchen's head chef and friend of the lady boss, it is operated by this lady who sing during the 7th month festival. Who says you need to have all sorts of certificate to earn big bucks?
so we were eating happily and wondering why are the portion bigger than usual..
its because of dad's friend's friend that gave us more food than the usual.
cool, the amount of energy i burnt during training doesn't even equaled to the amount of food i consumed.

Offically today is my mum's birthday and as my jie is learning diving like now, we couldn't really celebrate with her.
i just went out to get a cake for her.
her favourite durian.

alright, i am getting hungry now..
and normally every wednesday during the sch sem i would crave for subways during wed..
oh well,
maybe next time!
and the subway in tamp is down for renovation.
oh well.
oh supp paper arnt very funny
but yea,
going to have a good laugh at my GPA now..

blown away.

it was the last tues of the sem in TAS and the wind was that strong that we thought a storm is approaching or maybe the next big hit of tsunami was here.

i swear to my sister's teddy bear that i am so freaking tired that i dont wish to get out of bed for soccer this morning...

maybe cause yam told me a day before that she dont feel like going training..
the motivation just wasnt there you see..

and it seems like my whole family have an issue with technological gadgets now..
first was my phone,
then my dad's old phone,
then my dad's phone,
then my mum's phone,
then my sister's old phone.
i am back to having my phone with no reception, no phone calls, only messages.

i need to find back my fighting spirit for the entire holiday...
i need to go somewhere out of this small island including sentosa..
alright, time to go to my auntie's house again..
backpack on my own and zhao.

business IGs camp 2008

its a success!
its been long since i join camps as a participant..
registration for camp was at 12pm and i took a cab there.
shldnt have took that choice because I GOT A WEIRD TAXI UNCLE WHO TALK ABOUT SEXUAL CONTENT.
alright,
so upon registration, i saw the sign 'LRM & BIG. GROUP 1'

oh! what a coincident!
low shuling and trina lim are both in the same group as me!
oh, what luck!
they decided not to go on the very last minute...

so we were then group with LAW
and named ourselves 'team LOCKET'
(you know.. like.. team locket! blasting off again~ get it? get it?)

lets go into the activities we had yea?
TEAM IDENTITY
we made ties for all females and bowties for all males in our group...
using cardboards and aluminium foil.
we look cool.
yes.

STATION GAMES
my team had difficulty finding the game master for the 1st station..
so we found them with the help of sunny,
and station master was kandies.
so we had to pass water bags that is covered with lotion and as many as possible.
passing with either the neck, elbow or knee.
if you drop it, BOOM! burst it on you.
so end of it, we have got 19 successful passes down the row of people,
and cause the game ended and i was holding one,
it was burst on me.
joey was sway-er.
he got two.
HAHA.
so the 2nd station was at the table outside library.
Joyce was the station master and the task we had to do was..
to eat cabbage.
not that easy yo..
we have to pass behind our back and when the 'catcher' is not noticing,
tear a few piece and eat it.
oh, did i mention we still have got baby lotion on?
so the cabbage was sweet =] (due to the lotion)
i tried like a piece and i swear to my pillow i was on the verge of puking.
and huilin did something so brave i got to bow 180 degree to her.
she stuff the whole cabbage into her mouth. (palm size)
TWICE.
bravo!
so we proceed on to the TCC for our next station.
station master : Nicolas or Daniel
we are suppose to play a smaller scale of final clash.
i was the barbarian so i have to use my mouth to spray out the water =]
i mean.. =(
so unhygienic right??
so i had fun spraying everyone that try to steal the pingpong ball from huilin..
we only manage to do 3 stations and we proceed back to the LT..

DINNER
we had rice, fish, CABBAGE, chilli?
we decided to be nice and return the cabbage back to joyce after the meal when we were in the LT.

LT GAMES
we had skit performances and my group got the topic of... tarzan and jane!
no, i was not the tarzan.
no, i was not jane too.
i am the gorilla.
we have to include a few points in the skit:
-tarzan uses sign language
-jane dont understand tarzan
-sing tarzan and jane for 30sec
-gorilla fell in love with elephant
-ironman came in during ending
so our skit start with tarzan and jane having conversation via 3G and tarzan having a pet gorilla and jane having a pet elephant.
sharmine (jane) couldnt understand joey (tarzan) and recommand him to get an iphone and they decided to meet up the next day.
then it was the song tarzan and jane and at the last part of the song where it goes 'i'm jane and i love to ride an elephant~', sharmine hop on to shijie (elephant).
then touched by the scene, gorilla fell for elephant and they turned in circle and gorilla pulled elephant by the nose and walk off.
SUDDENLY!
cheryl, yuka and priscilla(powerpuff girls) fought with han chuan (ironman)!
and to end off the fight,
everyone sang barney's song.

AMAZING RACE
so with a team strength of 9,
we went over to outside LT19 to find our programmer/facilitator/tag-along, KANDIES.
i met someone as crazy as me.
i would just mention a few that i remembered.. (cause there is like serious alot...)
-10 little indian boys. i invented a new tribe and we did the classic move of red indians.
-finding shihui and ask her to do her fav cheer. we did the HHHTM.. HHHTM.. forcefully~
-counting the toilets in business school (19!)
-counting tables and chairs in biz park (.....!)
-counting steps in biz park (98 steps!)
-played haidai against kandies. cheryl was the pro! play with her and you will know...
-pole dancing and sang 'ohh~ my love~ my darling~~'
-pole dance on the pole and on kandies while singing rihana's umbrella.
-bimbo/himbo our way down in LT21.

SUPPER AND LIGHTS OUT
cheryl shijie and me had the entire toilet to ourselves while others squeeze to bath in the another toilet in sports complex. instant noodles with my group members and we proceed back to the room.. out setting was wow.. when we sleep, its like 8 female corpse and2 male corpse on the table lined up accordingly. we were the 1st room to really 'lights off' and sleep. the rest of the rooms were still playing poker and chatting..

BREAKFAST GAME
so after a good night rest on the hard bed,
we proceed to have our breakfast game.
we had to play wheel of fortune and guess the place and then go to the place and then play game and then we can eat.
after team kartoon guess a letter M, huilin figured out its at mushroom.
so we guess and gave everyone a shock.
so we proceed on to mushroom and the station was not even up yet..
we were that fast.
so the game master for the mushroom was..... kandies. again.
so we have to do a cheer, then play a game and done.
so cheer done,
game completed,
WE WERE TOO FAST AGAIN.
so kandies want us to do a cheer which has kandies, mushroom, sexy, clever in it.
within 3mins, we are done composing.
so we proceed back to concourse to have out beehoon.
sharmine was very happy because sunny ask what breakfast we want and sharmine happily said beehoon and tadaa~ beehoon!

FINAL CLASH
(typing till here, i am VERY TIRED already..)
so basically,
if you attend TP camps,
you should be familiar with this game.
so!
the dumb and stupid us decided to not be bastards and not bomb our Allies but behind our back,
they already plan to bomb us like crazy.
they gathered us in the end and mass splash us.
cheryl and me was the hengest of all.
we didnt get wet~

LUNCH
the rice with chicken was good~~
and my feedback on 'i prefer orange juice to rose syrup' was taken into consideration and the drink for lunch was orange juice~~ thanks thanks thanks.. hahahaha

we had got high chance to get into 2nd round..
